Who needs a headshot? You need a headshot! But Deb, you say, my headshot taken at my kitchen table 10 years ago in my flip phone is working just fine! But is it? Listen I get it, only tween girls love being in front of a camera, as adults we run and hide- seriously me included. But you need a current headshot. You will be asked to send a photo of yourself, or perhaps clients will approach your business and want to know who to look for when they arrive. They aren’t just used on your website anymore. We recently ran a headshot mini event at the studio- offering reduced rate headshots- you know new year new you! People need headshots for all sorts of reasons, here are the people that came to the event and what motivated them to get a new headshot.
katy
This is Katy- she is heading in to a period of transition. She needed a new headshot for her current job- professional and confident. She also has some plans on the horizon for a new business venture- so needed something to represent her that way as well, which would be more casual and approachable. We loved playing with different backgrounds and outfits and she left with so many choices.
Ella
Meet Ella! She is in High School but has begun the application process for music schools- specifically vocals. She is required to attach a photo for many of her applications. So she didn’t need a business headshot, more of a dramatic artistic option. We played with her facial expressions and her hairstyle to offer her choices depending on how she was going to use the images.

Let me tell you about Jen. We have had the pleasure of photographing her family many times in the past few years. We first met her through her daughter, since we do her school pictures. Here is the story Jen told us. She has a LinkedIn photo- I mean of course she does. She does not like her LinkedIn photo, who can relate? But she figured it was no big deal, I mean who is even looking at it? Jen arrived at a conference only to find someone had pulled her LinkedIn photo and was displaying it on the big screen announcing all of the attendees. Can you imagine? oh I know you can! That was the final straw- when she saw our email announcing these appointments she reached out immediately. Now, if that happens at least she has a picture she likes!
so what is your reason?
What is your reason? I realized many years ago I almost never shared a picture of myself on any of my socials and even on my website. So now clients, whom I have never met have no idea what I look like or who to talk to! As uncomfortable as it makes me, I get it! I make sure I am on our websites for all to see! Don’t believe me?
